This will be the first of your major speeches.  The object is to select three or four objects, which you will place in a container.  During your speech, you will remove each object to from the container and present it to the audience.  This speech must be between five to eight minutes long.

Guidelines:

·        Choose objects which relate to you personally so that your speech will reveal something about yourself.  In other words, it’s a personal speech.

·        Your speech must be unified, so choose objects that relate on one subject.  Remember that UNITY will be counted very highly for this speech.

·        Choose a container or create a container, if possible, that will add to your speech.  That means that it will fit the UNITY of your speech.

·        Choose objects that will not be difficult to work with and that the audience can relate to.

·        Use a format that will be interesting:  get the audience’s attention first, reveal your purpose, make your points, and then leave the audience with something memorable.

·        Consider the use of humor unless it would be contrary to the UNITY of your speech.

·        Use 3x5 index cards!

·        Remember to plan so that you stay within the time frame of 5 to 8 minutes.
