Carl Michael and Laurie Elizabeth Scullin

Laurie and I have been married since February 15, 1986. She's retired from teaching high school English, Speech and Drama exceedingly well, most recently in Corning, NY. Our three eldest children are from my first marriage, our youngest is from her first marriage. They're all grown and scattered from New York to Florida. We still have one leftover cat, and our own golden retriever, Sierra, at home, a constantly renovated 1850s farmhouse outside Alpine, NY. Our ex-spouses live elsewhere.

Our eldest daughter, Susan, lives in Glens Falls, NY. She and her new (April 30, 2000) husband, Wayne Phalen (a good Irish name!), run a truck service business. Susie grooms dogs in her spare time. Her ex-husband lives elsewhere.

Our son, Kevin, and his wife, Chris, and their children, Elizabeth Anne and William Russell, live in Elmira, NY. Kevin recently was awarded his second (or is it third?) college degree. He's now Assistant Chief Engineer at WETM-TV. His ex-wife lives elsewhere.

Our middle daughter, Kerry, lives in Holly Hill, FL, with her son, Sean. She is self-employed. Sean has joined the US Army, as of June 2004, his high school graduation month. Her ex-husband lives elsewhere, too.

Our youngest daughter and her daughter, Heather & Madeline Jewell, live in Clifton, NY, outside Rochester, NY. Heather is a clinical psychologist at a private clinic in Rochester. She also has siblings in Virginia through her first dad, Steve Sprague. Her ex-husband lives elsewhere.

Carl Henry and Ardis Vivian Dodds Scullin

My parents, Carl and Ardis. Dad was born in 1919 and died suddenly in 2002. We all miss him a great deal. Mom was born in 1916 and is still going strong. The young guy in the picture is Jorge Silvera, who lives with my brother Gary (see below). In addition to enjoying her great-grandchildren, Mom goes on outings with her friends, and keeps up with the social life at her home in Appleridge, in Horseheads, NY.

My sister, Peggy Maupin, lives in East Greenbush, NY, and recently retired from her career as a biologist of some kind. Her ex-husband also lives elsewhere. Her son, John, lives in Denver, where he is an architectural engineer or some such title, and remodels his house. Peggy's daughter, Genny (an old pic) is a biologist at a genetics firm in Rochester, NY.

My middle brother, Dennis, lives in Troy, NY, and maintains automated voice and data switching systems for Intecom. He and his second wife, Gail, have a son, David, and a daughter, Mandy, from her first marriage, and a daughter, Meagan, and a son, Corchran, from his first marriage. Corchran has a growing daughter, Chloe Ariella Mae. Chloe was born October 26, 1998. Not to be outdone, Meagan, and her significant other, Steve Peer, have fooled the docs who said she couldn't conceive. Amaya Serena Peer was born February 2, 2000, in Rochester, NY. Amaya is the apple of Grampa Dennis' eye, being the youngest. However, Grampa still thinks Chloe is just fine. Dennis's and Meagan's and Corchran's ex-spouses also reside elsewhere. Gail's ex is deceased.

Gary Burton Scullin

My baby brother, Gary, runs the networks at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, the Great State of Texas, and lives with his significant other, Jorge Silvera. Jorge is from Uruguay, where Gary thoroughly enoyed a visit. Gary is my smartest sibling, as evidenced by his having no children. He was once quoted in PCWeek Magazine.

I also have 40-odd first cousins on my mother's side (the Dodds clan), scattered all over the country (a bunch of 'em in western OH, near Kenton), and God knows how many second cousins. They all live elsewhere, too -- hey, it's a big country.
